Like every year, Manicktalla Chaltabagan Lohapatty Durga Puja Committee ushered in Durga Puja with the roaring beats of dhak with their Dhak Utsav 2019 at a city luxury hotel on Wednesday morning. The rhythm and the beats made us realize that our very own Ma Durga was coming home with her children. While the chief guest of the occasion was Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankar, a number of Tolly celebs, diplomats, politicians and chairman of Chaltabagan Durga Puja, culturist Sundeep Bhutoria, too were also part of the celebration.
The event started with the felicitation of the chief guest and the other guests of honor. Dev, Roopa Ganguly, and industrialist Ghanshyam Sarda were the guests of honor and were part of the lamp-lighting ceremony. A group of tribal dancers also performed a piece with conch shells and tribal drums. “Among all the countries I have visited, Bengal is perhaps the most culturally rich place in the world. Being present here, I feel that there cannot be a greater prelude to Durga Puja,” the Governor added.
Hotelier Atul Bhalla was attending his fourth Dhak Utsav. “The Dhak Mahotsav celebrates the indigenous musical heritage of Bengal, which is integral to Durga Puja. This is in keeping with our hotel’s philosophy of ‘responsible luxury’ as we pay tribute to the cultural heritage of the region,” he added.
